September Science & Sangria: Temple Health & Bioscience District

Details

This month we'll hear from Tami Annable, Executive Director of the Temple Health & Bioscience District. Big things are happening to Texas’ biotechnology industry. Temple is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas due to the increasing presence of medical companies, hospitals and industry influence in the area. The growth of this industry forged legislation by the city of Temple to create the Temple Health and Bioscience District (THBD). To support the economic development of the biotech industry in Texas, THBD brings in top startups from around the world to grow their companies in our state.

THBD supports startups with ample office and laboratory space, mentorship and a wide network of collaborators. The 5,000 sq. ft. office and laboratory facility provides equipment for prototyping, testing, 3D printing and cell research. Join us on Thursday, Sept. 12 to learn more about this one-of-a-kind facility and the exciting resources available to startups, researchers, physicians, and students in Central Texas.

*We are now asking for an optional $5 per person donation at our monthly meetings to help pay for speaker meals and group expenses. This is not required, but any donation is appreciated :)

We will meet in the private room in the back right of the restaurant. Food and drink are available for purchase. Don't forget to bring your hard-to-recycle items (white styrofoam, #3-7 plastic, toothpaste & other oral care items, hygiene product containers, contact lenses/cases/foils) to the meeting. They'll be recycled through Fort Hood Recycle and TerraCycle!
