What we're about

This is a Reading Club, as opposed to a Book Club, meaning we'll gather to discuss books in general, share recommendations & encourage our reading. This Is also an opportunity to explore & enjoy Central Library & other venues, plus any events that Austin offers to us as readers, This is also a Retirees Club, to socialize with others with more flexible schedules, who thoroughly enjoy reading & discussion, plus walking & exploration. Most meetings will be held on weekdays, but many evening events will be offered, including author talks.

This is for men & women, over 55, retired, semi-retired, or now contemplating retirement, who live in or near Downtown or Central Austin, so not so distant, that Austin traffic & parking issues would affect some attendance at meetings. Group also for those active enough to participate in casual walking, as we talk, attend local events, or visit sites that compliment our reading or discussions, plus enjoy patio dining & other Downtown or Central Austin outdoor areas.

FYI: This meet up will not be providing transportation or parking suggestions, so if you choose to come from outside Central Austin, you'll need to research on your own! Participation at least every few months is a requirement! Also, although I'm a dog lover, pets should not be brought to our meetings or on our walks. Finally, please ask to bring guests from out of town only, & allow local friends to join group to participate! There are no current dues or fees!

MY MEMBERS PLEASE READ: A walking Book Club creates an opportunity to casually exercise & socialize, & build community around a love of books. This is one of my future plans for my developing Retirees Reading Club, but more likely a week day event.
