Two Day Glamping Paddle and Camp - Ray's Wayside to Eureka

Details

This will be a "Glamping" paddle (ie bathrooms and cold showers). We will set up a base camp at Gores Landing and paddle the Ocklawaha River from Rays Landing to Gores (Saturday) and from Gores to Eureka West (Sunday). I plan to arrive late Friday to set up the base camp. Participants are welcome to camp both nights, one night only or not at all.

Saturday night will be a potluck dinner night. Everyone contributes and everyone shares. Please note in the comment section below what you will contribute.

The Ocklawaha is said to be a very old river geologically, and as a result has created a mile-wide valley. It has a sand bottom and its waters tend to be very clear with occasional areas where tannin from the swamps colors the water a darker hue.

Gores Landing have campsites on a first-come,first-served basis; we will share sites to fit everyone; small pup tents are advised or share large tent - whatever works and people are comfortable with. There are bathrooms with outdoor showers. There are a total of 12 campsites at Gores, hopefully there will be sites available to us.

EVERYONE IS INVITED FOR SINGLE DAY TRIP and/or to hang out for food/drink at campsite on Friday or Saturday evening, or camp at other locations.

Pets are prohibited at all Marion County Parks.

Everyone on the water is required by law to have a PFD and a whistle.

Rental kayaks are available. Let me know if you need to rent one.
