It's time to discuss the 2019 dive schedule for Central Indiana Scuba. We will first eat lunch at Los Cabos Mexican Grill beginning at 1:00 p.m., then discuss Midwest lakes and quarries to dive for the 2019 season (please note that we already have Lake Bluewater scheduled for March 30th for the hardy cold water divers). We will pick local locations, talk about upcoming warm water dive destinations (North Carolina 2019 and Bimini 2020, Middle Keys 2020). We will also discuss several non-dive trips during 2019 & 2020, where significant others will be welcome. The meal will be in the private restaurant dining room, so please let the hostess know you are with Central Indiana Scuba when you arrive. This will be the best time to meet other new divers to the group as well as those experienced divers who have been with Central Indiana Scuba for years. Please sign up on the Meetup website and plan on joining the group.
France Park in Logansport, IN is open, so we thought we would take advantage of the clear water that follows winter. Since this quarry is shallow (about 25 feet), it will be one of the warmest locations in the Midwest and will also be a great place to get your skill level back again. Please sign up for this event on the Central Indiana Scuba website. Park entrance fee is $3.00, cost to dive is $20. This quarry has the best gear up stations in the Midwest. Many items have been added in recent years including the hippo, a second boat, platforms and more to go along with the school bus, truck, tube, and several items that were left from the mining days.
Historic Cottage - 1 Queen These 10 historic cottages are located across the parking lot from the Mammoth Cave Park hotel and restaurant. They are single bedroom units with 1 queen bed, A/C and heat, coffee maker with coffee, refrigerator, and a shower bathroom. They are in the small meadow near the original hotel site. We will be collecting (50%) for the Mammoth Cave Cottage only. All cave tours and final room fees will be at your expense. Cave tours are different lengths and difficulties from easy to moderate to strenuous. There are also walking and bike trails, horseback riding, kayaking, and other off site adventures. All 10 cottages are now available, but are on a first come basis. Cost for two nights at $93 per night is $204.60 total (includes taxes & services). To hold a cottage, a 50% deposit of $102.30 is required. The deposit is due when signing up on our Meetup page. The final amount due ($102.30) is upon checkout.
Hidden Paradise is located in St. Paul, IN (near Shelbyville), about an hour or less from the north side of Indy. We will carpool from the Cracker Barrel located at 96th Street and I69 (north parking lot). Hidden Paradise is a shallow quarry, about 20-25 feet. This will be a great spot to "get our feet wet" after a long winter! Also, the shallower bodies of water will be the warmest in spring. Because of the early spring date, the visibility should be good. Cost to dive is now $15.00. We will leave the Cracker Barrel promptly at 8:30 a.m. You may carpool with us or meet us at the quarry at approximately 9:30 a.m. We typically do 2 dives then meet for lunch at a local restaurant. We will probably head to New Bethel Ordinary in Wanamaker for pizza. PLEASE sign up on the website at www.meetup.com/Central-Indiana-Scuba/
