Chiltern Hills walk

On Sunday 6th April I will lead a Chiltern Hills walk from Great Missenden to Wendover.

Distance: about 12 miles, but its actually a bit tougher than that because of the hills. This is NOT an easy flat route.

This is very much a country walk with fields, hedgerows, hills and meandering paths through beech woodland. Also views over the Aylesbury plain. One of my favorite walking areas, with plenty of ups and downs to help get us fit for walking in the Lake District (or Scotland - or Essex). I intend to take a route that is a slight variation on the routes I have led before, but will include the classic Cradle footpath, Beacon Hill, Coombe Hill route towards the end.

Look out for other Cloggies from 9:45am at Marylebone Station near the ticket office. Meet at Great Missenden station exit 10:55am

TRAVEL:-
This walk uses 2 stations on the same railway line, which makes the tickets cheaper and is also convenient for car drivers.

Catch 10:12am train from Marylebone to Great Missenden arrives 10:55am. I will be working a night shift on Friday night. I don't mind falling asleep on the train, but you may need to wake me before we alight!

Buy a return ticket to Wendover. Cost £16:30 or less with a Network Card.

Return from Great Missenden early evening at xx:13, xx:43.

Car travel: Arrive early to find parking at Great Missenden.

LUNCH:-
Please bring a packed lunch to eat in the pretty village of Whiteleaf about 2pm.

I intend to have a pub stop at the Red Lion Pub, Whiteleaf, 01844 344476, about 2pm. The pub has provided meals before, but I can't guarantee food there, as they can be busy Sunday lunchtime. The previous pub I tried said they were fully booked for Sunday lunch. Even if you would like a pub lunch, you need to have some food with you as a contingency.

We are likely to finish between 6 and 7pm. (That's the walk finishing at that time, not the lunch :-)
