December Showing at Morone's CHANGED (and yet again) TO JANUARY 27th
Please RSVP for the meetup and put in number of guests based on how many pictures you will hang. Here is a link to the album for critiquing pictures. If YOU want your pictures critiqued, post them in this album> If you feel you need to meet to discuss this I cac meet you at Morones tomorrow morning or evening. Due to several new people who are not quite ready we will wait until the 21st to hang our pictures. If you haven't done this before, we each hang 1 - 5 pictures in Morone's Italian Villa. We have sold several pictures from each showing. We hang framed pictures to be sold as "decor" or "Fine Art". Decor pictures are nicely framed, but are not of the durability and quality of Fine Art which should be done with archival ink, paper, mat and frame. Note that It is far more likely to sell a "decor" picture in this environment than a "Fine Art" picture, because Fine Art costs a lot more to print and frame. Morone's handles the sales and gets 10% handling fee for that. Much cheaper than a normal gallery charges. You get your pictures printed (I use McAlisters on Sawmill and Automated Photo Technologies). Then get them framed (I do my own (not Fine Art, just Art Decor), (our member Vince Mcguire does framing and has frames to sell). Then you bring them, ready to hang, to Morone's on the 21st. McAlisters does framing and so does the Terra gallery in Historic Downtown Dublin. We put business card size tags below the pics to show: Title, Artist's Name, Contact info, and price. I make mine with Word using Edwardian Script on RoyalBrites inkjet label sheets I got at an office supply store. We have seen a tendency for buyers to choose pictures of local interest as opposed to travel pictures even though we have had some great shots from around the country and world. That is not to say you won't sell travel pictures, just that the odds favor local pics. If you can't hang your pictures on the 21st, we'll work something out. I will start an album, where you can get your photos critiqued if you want. I speak from experience that this is a good idea. (Album link .. Dale spotted dirty sensor issues on one of my pictures that I needed to remove before I printed the pic. I suggest you stop in at Morone's to see the current pics. The food is good there, also. Any questions?

What we're about

Public Group

The Central Ohio Photo Group is designed with the Beginner to Advanced Amateur Photographer in mind. The Meet Ups are intended to help aspiring photographers learn and grow their craft through "doing" not "Reading". We want this group to be an easy learning experience, but fun is the most important aspect.

On our Meet Ups, we suggest you bring a camera, possibly a tri-pod, flash, memory cards, an on-camera flash and whatever other equipment is appropriate. No specific camera or equipment is needed to attend any of our Meet-ups! So, how's that sound?

Join us and let's all learn something about our craft!
