Topic: 13 Anti-Patterns in T-SQL Programming

Topic: 13 Anti-Patterns in T-SQL Programming and how you can
avoid them

Just like software development in languages like C# and Java has both design patterns and "anti-patterns", there are anti-patterns in T-SQL Programming that represent inefficient ways of addressing database programming tasks.  In this session, I'll present 13 different T-SQL scenarios where a developer might (however innocently) implement an inefficient solution, and how we can address and improve it.

Our Speaker for tonight:

Kevin S. Goff ( has been a Microsoft MVP since 2005.  He is a Database architect/developer/speaker/author and has been writing magazine articles and books for 10 years.  He speaks regularly at  community events in the Mid-Atlantic region, and is a regular speaker for the SQL Live!360 commercial conference brand.  You can email him at [masked]

*REALLY* wish I could attend -- I'm a bit of a T-SQL junkie -- but I'm out of town. Make sure I get the invoice for the pizza and sodas!

A very informative meeting. The speaker had a great depth of the subject matter. I do believe that how the points were made as to how to avoid SQL 'anti-patterns' were made with much clarity. I certainly went away from the meeting armed with new SQL info'.

Would be good to hear this!! I do not get to do too much 'fancy' stuff with SQL. However, hearing how to avoid 'trouble' is always a good thing.
