What we're about
Welcome, one and all, to the *** CENTRAL VALLEY EVENTS!!! *** (CVE for short) meetup group! This group will be starting fresh on January 21, 2016. As you can see from our group calendar page, we got ALL KINDS of fun, exciting, and interesting events and things to do for members of all ages. We are looking forward to making some wonderful friendships & lifelong connections with CVE's AWESOME members, as well as meeting those of you we haven't met before from other meetup groups.
CVE is Matt's brainchild however, our mission (which we're very passionate about), and the whole reason for us starting this group together in the first place, is simple:
"Put CVE belongs in the hands of the members, NOT THE ORGANIZERS! We will accomplish this by developing and implementing a plan (it's our "secret sauce" if you will!) to evolve this site & its members into a MEMBER-DRIVEN, NOT AN ORGANIZER-CENTRIC group!"
We work as a EQUAL TEAM with EQUAL organizer roles & capabilities, regardless of our titles, combining my background as a meetup organizer/event host for other groups, with Matt's IT background as a credentialed computer applications teacher, to help us all learn how to use the Meetup application (incl phone, desktop, & web-based versions) as efficiently as possible. We also work closely with the event hosts supporting their technical needs and ensuring their ideas & suggestions translate into AWESOME events for all CVE members to enjoy. Together, we will work with you, our valued members, to bring many exciting, and well-planned events to our group's calendar.
Let's keep the rules simple, folks. If you can "play nice" & behave respectfully & courteously to your fellow CVE members, then you're welcome to join us once you have completed our pre-approval process as we are an "all ages", "family-based" group. We are NOT a singles group, or a singles "hookup" type site! We have adopted and strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards any such behavior along those lines! Any one is welcome to join regardless of their age, gender, marital or social status, race, or economic background. Think of us as Meetup's "Statue of Liberty"!
We will have a variety and broad mix of events for many tastes. Some of our events will coincide with other meetup group's events as joint ventures, for example, the "Let's Get Out of Here!" travel meetup & the "CHEERS" groups. This help keeps our events fresh & interesting, and affords you the opportunity to interact with members from other groups who share many of the same common interests and experiences as CVE's members.
We have implemented Meetup's "dues system" function on this site for your convenience to pay your annual dues. Your dues go towards helping to cover the administrative costs of event-related items (name tags, tabletop tents, party/picnic supplies for various events, etc. as well as to cover annual Meetup server fees for the group.
CVE intent with respect to financial aspects of the group is to maintain a transparent, "open-book" policy. With that said, we will adopt an open book policy at our monthly mtgs in the form of a "Money Matters" report. This report will consist of a high-level summary of income/expenses, member joins/departures, etc. We also plan on addressing any comments, issues, concerns, and suggestions from our members pertaining to financial matters at this meeting. As a side note, please understand...
CVE is a NON-PROFIT meetup group. EVERYONE (including organizers, co-organizers, & event hosts participates on behalf of CVE on a 100% volunteer basis.
Membership Dues are as follows:
$12 (if paying via the site's online function. Meetup charges each member a $2 fee to use this service)
$10 (if paying in person by putting your dues in a envelope with your name and giving it directly to Linda or Matt)
