What we're about

Welcome to CFK, Central Florida Kayakers.

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY BEFORE JOINING US. CFK IS NOT A TRADIONAL MEETUP GROUP. OUR GOAL IS NOT LARGE MEMBERSHIP BUT AN ACTIVE ONE. PLEASE REQUEST TO JOIN ONLY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTCIPATING IN OUR TRIPS. COME OUT AND EXPERIENCE THE WONDERS OF OUR WATERWAYS WITH US.

CFK is about forming a small group of paddlers that want to build camaraderie to enjoy day trips, overnight basecamp and river camp trips. CFK's main goal is to have a group of responsible paddlers for fellowship and camaraderie. We aim to have fun, help each other improve, and watch out for one another.

We are a group of active recreational kayakers who enjoy being on the water with other upbeat positive people. We appreciate Florida's beautiful nature, springs, wildlife and excellent waterways. All paddling enthusiasts are welcome from young to "young at heart." Members should have their own kayak or access to one, as we do not rent kayaks. For some trips, you should be able to transport 2 boats 13' or longer. Attending a trip with a shuttle means participating in the shuttle. If you have limitations, consult with the trip leader before signing up.

We encourage everyone to get outside, burn some calories, soak up some rays and see our glorious creeks, rivers, springs and lagoons. We do single weekday trips, single weekend day trips, weekend trips, multi-day trips with base camping at our great State Parks, National Recreation Areas and State Forests.

Occasionally, we do weeklong river camping trips. We also do occasional full-moon night paddles. Some of our trips are for adventurous types who like to be challenged with a "hardcore exploratory trip" to wild parts unknown. Hardcore trips will be labeled as such. Other trips will be to see manatees and or dolphins. Many of our trips are established paddle routes that we do on a regular rotation.

It is understood that state rules related to life vests and whistles will be followed.

Members will pay for their own launching/parking or camping fees paid to municipalities or outfitters, when applicable. We are a loosely organized group of people getting together to enjoy kayaking, nature and camaraderie.

It is best when you sign up for the group that you use a first and last name!

The Meetup costs for the group run over $180 per calendar year. We are attaching a chip in button to the website so members of the group can help out with the cost or you may send a contribution to the organizer. We are going to try this on a voluntary basis and see how it goes! You are not paying for trip leaders but to assist with the Meetup administrative costs.
