This talk explores a process of indigenization - a way of linking rationalism and scientific principles to traditional indigenous concepts in culturally appropriate ways, providing a means to address the challenge of providing a humanist alternative to religious tendencies within aboriginal populations.
Dr. Lloyd Hawkeye Robertson was Director of Life Skills for the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College in the early 1980s, and he shares his observations from this period contrasting them with his subsequent 40 years of work in indigenous counseling and education.
