What we’re about
Centro NYC is a non-profit organization that has provided affordable adult education programs and cultural events to New Yorkers since 1978! We are a welcoming, inclusive community, staffed entirely by volunteers who are committed to developing skills, confidence, independence and cross-cultural understanding among lifelong New Yorkers and newcomers.
Why study English or Spanish with us? We offer REAL language instruction by NATIVE SPEAKERS, with plenty of conversation practice. We help you strengthen your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You'll improve your grammar, build vocabulary, and polish pronunciation. Two teachers in each class ensure plenty of personal attention. All classes provide TWO HOURS of instruction, plus a half hour "Intercambio" – informal conversation practice over refreshments with native speakers from all our classes.
LOW COST: Our non-profit mission enables us to offer our classes at very low-cost, compared to commercial language schools. Our dedicated, volunteer staff ensures the highest quality language instruction.
- ENGLISH ESL classes for adults at Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels meet twice a week.
- SPANISH classes for adults at four levels, Beginner to Advanced, meet once a week.
- CULTURAL EVENTS held throughout the year help new New Yorkers meet each other and make new friends.
