Western Wheelers- Tuesday / Thursday Morning Ride

Panera Bread

We are back on the road again and adding another opportunity for getting in some activity. We will ride Tuesday and Thursday mornings on our new summer schedule. As we are not yet safe from this pandemic, we ask that you wear a mask when in close proximity of others and maintain a reasonable distance between riders. As always, joining us on this ride means you agree to ride at your own risk. We will follow our regular route as organized by Paul, deciding as a group whether to go North or South on Lyons Rd. (usually heading into the wind so our ride back isn't too tough). Please note the earlier summer hours. MEET AT 7:00 A.M. - PEDALS UP AT 7:15 AM Hope to see you there!

Pickle Ball - Delray Beach Tennis Center

Delray Beach Tennis Center

ATTENTION: The Delray Beach Tennis Center is now reopened and allows up to 24 people per session. You can play doubles now. I know there are people trying to connect to play pickleball. Please feel free to use this meetup to organize. If you let me know what time you want to meet I can post it. Many people have new schedules now and either are not working or working from home which makes their schedules more flexible. It is important that everyone follow the distance rules and wear a mask when entering the pro shop. Please visit the tennis center web site for further information. Thank you! OK Chainwheelers let's play Pickle Ball!!! Pickle Ball is the fastest growing sport in America. We play at the Delray Tennis Center every week. Many people have been curious about pickleball, others have no idea what it is, and still more people want an opportunity to learn more about the sport. So let's develop our Pickle Ball skills and burn off a few calories at the same time. This meetup welcomes all skill sets and discriminates against nobody no matter how they play. We are all here to have fun. There is a small charge to play at Delray Tennis Center. ***There are NO RESERVED pickle ball courts at the Delray Tennis Center. It is first come first serve. If all the courts are full you must put your paddle in the bucket (wait your turn) for a court and when the pickle ball game in progress is over the next players rotate in according to how many people are waiting to play.*** Please purchase a paddle if you do not have one and you will need to wear athletic shoes to play. Parking is free in the front of the tennis center. The pickleball courts are in the back of the tennis center. The staff can direct you to the courts. Afterwards we go grab something to eat and/or drink for happy hour somewhere close. If anyone has any restaurant ideas please post them. We usually try a variety of restaurants in the area.

Churn and Burn - Delray

Boheme Bistro

Let's meet at Boheme Bistro on East Atlantic Ave. We can eat there as they are open now and have plenty of outdoor seating where we can spread out a bit. Just remember to protect everyone keep physical distance of at least 6 feet physical distance between people/riders. Use hand sanitizer and don't touch your face until you wash your hands after touching surfaces. And wear a mask if you wish. We will meet at 7:30 AM with PEDALS UP at 07:45 for our Summer hours. This ride goes either north or south on A1A dependent upon the wishes of the group. All levels and skill sets welcome. Groups will typically split into three levels which generally break along the lines of 17 to 20+, 14 to 17ish, and 13 and below for the casual riders. This ride also changes location frequently so please check the meeting place each week to make sure you are heading to the right place. Direction normally dependent upon the wind, but it's always changing, so.....? The ride will be a churn and burn at your own pace and pick your distance. Again, we will group people together according to riding style and pace so that nobody rides alone. We often go to Boynton Inlet, Deerfield Pier, Lake Worth or Palm Beach. Again, feel free to ride at your own pace, slower or faster, as we will ultimately return to a restaurant close to wherever we are riding for brunch. Various venues will be explored weekly, suggestions welcomed. Everyone starts and ends at the same location, followed by brunch and a little social cheer. Come join us and see you on the road!!!
