What we’re about

This is group is for anyone interested in distributed ledger technology (i.e. blockchains, cryptography, smart contracts, decentralized applications (DApps) cryptocurrency/tokens, and relevant related subjects). Everyone is welcome!

Our regular meetings are the third Friday of each month and will have an educational component as well as a discussion component at our meetups. We also have special events and co-sponsor events on campus that relate to the Blockchain industry. Join if you seek to learn about this industry and have a great time.

Our group is sponsored by the University of Illinois Research Park, a leading innovation hub for technology commercialization with a unique environment that cultivates startups and increases capabilities for established companies. The mixed-use composition promotes creative collisions and interdisciplinary collaborations, strengthening the bridge between campus and community.

AI and Blockchain Combine with White Marble Syndicate

EnterpriseWorks @ U of I Research Park, 60 Hazelwood Dr, Champaign, IL, US

Join us for an meetup exploring White Marble Syndicate (whitemarble.ai), a new experiment at the intersection of Classical Scholarship, AI, and Blockchain Governance. White Marble is building a decentralized library DAO that curates Greek and Latin texts, translations, and commentaries, while integrating a private AI model trained on Classical sources. The result is a unique approach to reducing hallucination and bias in AI tools by grounding responses directly in the original materials.

Neal Davis, a developer on the project, will lead the discussion on how it works, how token-based governance can identify membership and support project goals, as well as what opportunities exist for researchers, educators, and technologists interested in decentralized knowledge infrastructures. We’ll also consider how models like White Marble can inform the broader evolution of DAOs and open cultural preservation.

Whether you’re a blockchain enthusiast, a DAO builder, an AI developer, or a lover of the humanities, you’ll find this a fascinating look at how decentralized technology can serve the preservation and expansion of human knowledge.

We will meet in the Enterprise Works building of the Research Park where there is open parking for guests and a CUMTD bus stop. Please RSVP so we know how many to expect, as lunch will be provided!
