Messing Around in Kayaks & SUPs!

Needs a location

Free opportunity to come to the lake at James Island County Park each Thursday night through the summer and work on rescues or rolling or just soaking in a community of paddlers. SUP and kayaks are welcome!

There is a $2 park entry fee, unless you have the annual pass for the Charleston County Parks. (Annual pass highly recommended, it allows entry to all the Charleston County Parks and they are fabulous.)

Directions: Enter James Island County park and make the first right turn and park in the lot on the right (near palm trees). Bring gear to the shore which is easy/shallow launch.

We will play in the lake near the palms tree side of the lake which is on the opposite side of the dog park. Frequent practice is the secret behind learning to roll your kayak, and this is a fun opportunity to tweak your skills. Also rescues practice builds confidence and safety skills. The point here is to get together and have fun and play.

If you want/need a kayak rolling lesson, contact Bev to schedule it.
We have kayaks and SUPs to rent, but need a days notice to ensure equipment availability. The park also rents sit-on-top kayaks and SUPs as well, from their Park Center dock.

Early Morning Fitness Paddle

Needs a location

Morning paddles are a favorite. Bring your kayak or SUP and lets paddle for whatever reason that inspires you. Some of us may paddle a fast pace and some may paddle slowly at a leisurely pace. So the group may or may not stay together, but we will get out there regardless. We often do the Coburg Creek loop which is just under 5 miles.

You are responsible for yourself. If we get split up, you will need to be able to handle your craft alone. If you are on the water, you must be wearing a lifejacket and appropriate clothing for potential submersion.

Have fun, but be safe doing it!
