Watch A Sailboat Race from the water on Motorboat Geechee Girl
Sailors- If you have never seen a sailboat race, it can be quite the experience. Captain Bob Seymour will be your guide on motorboat Geechee Girl as you get close to the action. Every Wednesday night in the Charleston Harbor the Charleston Ocean Racing Association (CORA) hosts these amazing races. PARKING The Harborage Marina asked that my meetup guests no longer use the visitors spots, please use the options below: 1) The City Marina (17 Lockwood) has paid parking. From there you would need to take the sidewalk (towards the river dogs stadium) passing under the JI connector to The Harborage, probably less than half a mile. 2) Consider Uber or Taxi FOOD/DRINKS Feel free to bring any snacks or drinks that you would like. I will not be drinking or providing any alcohol but you can bring some for yourself. I'll have water, ice, snacks onboard. **Please avoid bringing glass** FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What should I wear? Generally its a few degree's cooler on the water. Spray from the water may get you wet, but you will not get soaked. A light jacket, hat and sunglasses are a good idea. What should I bring? If you contact me and I am aware you will be a few minutes late we will wait for you. Can I reserve the entire boat for a private charter? Yes. I charge $300 for 6 people for 2 hours REFUNDS Refunds will only be offered if the Meetup is canceled. ** Due to tide/current and wind conditions the return to the dock time is an estimated time. Please make me aware prior to leaving the dock if you need to back by a certain time. **Weather Note** Assume the meetup is on regardless of the weather forecast. If there is a chance of thunderstorms/lighting/excessive wind, I will post a message at least one hour prior to the scheduled meetup times. Refunds will only be given if the meetup is canceled.

    What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in sailing, all skills levels are welcome. I picked up sailing in 2009 after relocating to Charleston and went from zero experience to racing in the same day, and have been hooked ever since. I purchased a 1988 30ft Catalina MKII in May of 2014 and am looking to meet other people who either enjoy sailing or have an interest in learning to sail or just enjoy being on a boat. While the boat can be sailed single-handed, it's always more enjoyable with other people and I figure the more people that I meet, the more often we will be able to take the boat out on the water.
