What we're about

We are a group of individuals that enjoy being in community with one another. We aspire to learn and grow 'more whole' through life's challenges.

Each week, we do activities* for cultivating:

-inner spaciousness

-inner connectivity

-empathy

-compassion

-authenticity

-awareness

-humility, and

-joy

We also practice reflective and empathic listening with one another, so that each of us can discover new depths, resourcefulness and wholeness from within.

This is a transformative space, where life-serving relationships develop and grow.

*The activities and practices offered are rooted in the consciousness of Nonviolent Communication (NVC**), a language based approach to personal and social transformation and a way of working with conflict that builds trust.

**NVC is the life's work and legacy of Marshall B. Rosenberg, founder of the Center for Nonviolent Communication.

Some intentions of this group:

-to bring spacious awareness to our inner environments, and to notice the interconnectedness of our inner and outer worlds.

-to notice our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and needs, and the way they are related.

-to recognize our needs and to balance them through awareness, including needs for our own wellbeing, the wellbeing of our significant others, and the wellbeing of our communities.

-to recognize when we are caught in a net of our interpretations, evaluations, and/or assumptions, based on past experiences, and to approach the present moment with openness, curiosity, and courageous vulnerability.

-to become more skilled at navigating the gap between what we want and what we are experiencing, and between what we perceive in another and what is actually true for/about them.

-to do the practices that support thinking, speaking and acting by choice, rather than habit.

-to become less reactive, and more responsive, over time.

-to bring care and compassion to the parts of us that carry limiting beliefs, as well as emotional and generational burdens.

-to appreciate the noble purpose of our actions, especially the ones that we now regret, so that we can be forces for positive change in our society.

-to widen our circle of care and compassion, both internally and externally.

Below are perspectives that are available for trying on:

1. Our emotional journeys are personal and sacred. Awareness of, and personal responsibility for, one's own feelings is a transformative practice.

2. When we experience our feelings and source them from our needs, we discover our creative potential.

3. Reconnection work opens us up to see new possibilities.

4. Empathy connects us and empowers us towards collaborative living.

5. Bringing presence to the inside felt sense of one's human experience is a transformative practice.

6. Becoming aware of the impact of our words and actions on others helps brings about social healing.

7. Listening for the shared human values, as a person speaks, is a way of connecting.

8. Reflecting, to check for understanding, before responding supports effective communication.

9. Anything anyone (including ourselves) ever does is an attempt to meet a basic human need.

10. Having an intention to connect (rather than fix, problem solve, advise, make a point, or be right) to another's humanity, while staying connected to your own, builds trust.
