What we're about

For fans of, users of, and developers of Craft CMS applications. We will explore Craft tips and techniques, development processes and tools, plugins, Craft versions, and more! Probably more development-heavy, but we will also focus on CMS user experiences as well.

Events will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel also at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLXsAy8mFS8TALrtEjYGAQ

Effective and Smart Image Management Strategies in Craft CMS

Needs a location

Images are consistently the largest weight for website applications, especially for marketing image-heavy brochure-ware sites. This challenge gets compounded when we allow clients to upload images in the CMS that then get rendered on the frontend, while also trying to keep site load times fast and keeping your Core Web Vital metrics green. In this meetup, we will present and discuss various smart strategies to effectively manage, store and render images on your Craft CMS-powered website applications, including transforms, storage strategies, and plugins that can help (and when you might not need them), and rendering effective responsive images on the frontend.

This event will be IN-PERSON at the Union office on W Morehead St on the west side (near Pinkies and WBTV.) Thank you to Banks, Ron, and Ariel at Union for graciously hosting us for this event.

We will be live streaming the event on our new YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLXsAy8mFS8TALrtEjYGAQ. Join us at 6:30 pm for the event and Q&A afterward.

Solspace will be sponsoring pizza, salad, slider sandwiches, and sodas/tea/water, so plan to come out at 6 pm to grab some food and we will start the presentation and discussion at 6:30 pm.

This year for our meetup series, we will be bouncing around locations at the Charlotte area creative/web agency locations using Craft, including Wray Ward, Union, Mode, and Crafted.

A showcase of approaches and options to manage your inbound forms in Craft CMS

There are many options when approaching form management and support in Craft CMS sites, from rolling your own solutions with custom modules or plugins to free plugins that offer minimal feature sets, to full-blown paid plugins that are rich with features and integrations, to third party solutions like Pardot, Formstack, and others. In this meetup, we will touch on each approach/solution and talk about the benefits of each and when some may be appropriate to your business problem.

We will also have two remote presenting special guests to talk about their respective Craft form plugins, Kelsey Martens who is the product manager for Solspace's Freeform plugin, and Josh Crawford from Verbb's Formie plugin. Thank you to both of them for their contributions to the meetup and presentation.

This event will be IN-PERSON at the Mode office in Southend right off the light rail near Tremont, right beside Sycamore Brewing and Yamazaru. Thank you to Tyler, Chris, and Troy at Mode for graciously hosting us for this event. The office is a short walk from the East/West station near East/West Blvd.

Hosting solutions for Craft CMS

Needs a location

Choosing a web host for a Craft website can be a daunting task. With so many low-budget hosting companies not up to the rank of support and performance required for a smooth-running Craft site, Pixel & Tonic has chosen several hosts specializing in hosting Craft CMS installs with finely tuned servers, deployment services, and knowledgable support to help keep your Craft CMS site running at top-notch. At this meetup, we will review and showcase several preferred Craft hosting options, and detail some you would probably want to avoid. We will have two special remote guests, Nevin Lyne owner of Arcustech (a long-time EE and Craft hosting company based in the US), and Matt Grayisok owner of Servd (a specialty Craft specific hosting company based in the EU.) Both of them will outline what makes their hosting approaches and offerings unique and a little history of how they got to where they are today with Craft Hosting. Huge thanks to both Nevin and Matt for offering their time for this meetup (especially Matt who will be late in his night during our time here on the East Coast!)

This event will be IN-PERSON at the Crafted offices in Southend right off of South and East Blvd. Thank you to Chad and Rob at Crafted for graciously hosting us for this event.
