Hands-On Make a Movie One-Day Workshop
To be repeated on 4 different Saturdays.
Participants can attend only one Saturday.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is sponsoring this series in partnership with Charlotte Unconventional Film School.
For Adults 18+ only
WHAT This is a very hands-on day which will begin with
camera exposure, lenses, framing, movement, and simple lighting techniques.
We will film a very short scene (about 1 minute total=1/2 page of script) with 2 actors. The script will come from a local person. The actors will be local people. These will be chosen in advance.
WHO Taught by Western Carolina Professor, Joshua Overbay.
This is meant for adults who have very little or no experience being on a movie set. A participant can only attend one of these sessions. Because it is hands on, there is a limit of 15 students per session.
WHERE These will take place in the community room of various libraries
WHEN 12:15pm-4:45pm Offered one Saturday per month in September, October, November and December.
WHY We have identified that people need to experience an actual filming day in order to take that next step of doing their own filming.
HOW They will learn how to make adjustments to the camera, blocking, lighting, framing, and sound for the best results.
Participants RSVP here. Cannot bring guests.
We look forward to spending the day with you and to creating something original together. Come ready to learn!
