Ready for another great event? Join us this day to connect and network with other professionals as well as to enjoy a great talk by Ty whom will provide an introduction to working with Kafka. These are some of the things he will touch during his talk,

  • The theory behind the log as a data structure
  • The basics of how Kafka brokers work
  • An architectural overview of a stream processing setup that uses Kafka, Kafka Streams, and Kafka Connect
  • A demo to set up and run a stream processing system on a local machine

++ About the speaker ++
Ty Brooks is currently a Staff Software Engineer at Sovrn, an ad-tech company based out of Boulder and San Francisco. He’s got about 6 years of experience working primarily on the JVM, and has been active in migrating his company’s application infrastructure from a monolith to smaller, containerized microservices. He’s interested in domain driven design, distributed computing, and modern architectural patterns. He’s been living and working remotely from Charlotte for the past 3 years, where he lives with his wife and his dog, and is expecting a son in January.
