About Starr

My husband Stephen passing of cancer in 1991 gave me the impetus to exploring the path of WitchCraft as a means of finding comfort and meaning in my life; so far, to my mind, my search has been successful. My husband was my best friend, my lover and my soul mate. My heart needed to find ways to ease its pain. The Craft taught me how to ease my pain and take control of life's daily ordeals.

I have been a practicing Eclectic Solitary Witch since 1990, trained in the Minoan Sisterhood under Mary for 2 years. In 1994 and 1995 studied Witchcraft as a Science in the Cabot Tradition, receiving my 1st and 2nd degree under Laurie's wise teachings. With my entrepreneurial mindset lasting me through 3 other locations 1st Artie at Video Haven @ 14th St., then Halloween Adventure. The store in the East Village on East 3rd St. etc. (store rents in Manhattan really sucks). But??.. I am very grateful to everyone who has helped me directly or indirectly in my gathering of knowledge in the Craft.

From its origin as just a supplier of Pagan/ Wiccan items, over the years Charmed By Starr’s offerings have grown to include psychic readings, Craft classes and Group Wicca studies. Began teaching the Enchanted Candle Carving Spell Classes in 1995 with the first version of her book published that same year. Founded the eShoppe in 2005.

Been organizing and serving the New York City Pagan Community for over 15 years providing lectures, classes, workshops and festivals related to the Pagan Community.

Specializing in The Enchanted Candle Spell Castings teachings since 1995 I do rather enjoy sharing with others how to better craft their spells.
With every candle I carved, every incense or bath salt I made I realized by putting my all into my products, it in turn made me heal a little bit more of myself. I was giving some of myself back and I believe it helped people. The comments I got from my customers that whatever they purchased has helped them, in turn comforted me as well. I have now decided that I have to continue with the craft in some way, despite my regular job, I need to do what I love most of all. Doing every and anything pertaining to the Craft, this is my calling, so here I am.

The Craft gave and still gives me great comfort. By the way it was a confirmation when I found out some years ago that being a witch has been in my blood for generations. Cool eh! It's like coming home. (Sorry about the 'eh' part but you cannot take the Canadian out of me).

In May 2005 co-founded the group known as Sirens Sanctuary until separating January 2006.

In October 2005 I began the first Witches Masquerade Ball with long time friend Athena, and new found friend Zan. So began a new tradition of Witches Masquerade Balls in New York City held at The Delancey Lounge and have continued with a yearly Witches Ball to this day, now in our 5th year.

I have always written all of the rituals for the Esbats and Sabbats under my guidance. I have always felt like I was channeling when I do them. I have also performed as High Priestess in rituals for Esbats, Sabbaths, Dedications, Wiccanings, Rites of Passages and Last Rites.

No one person knows every thing, as everyday we learn something new. Keep on learning. FREE YOUR MIND, EDUCATE IT, AND THE REST WILL FOLLOW.
Love meeting and getting together with you all at our events so please do feel at home and welcome.

One more passing thought, I would like to suggest one thing, to everyone who in some way practices The Craft in whatever way or form, let's stop saying "YE HARM NONE" and really live up to it. There is enough business, love, caring, sharing, (as usual the list goes on) for all of us in or out of The Craft. It is up to us as human beings to keep everything in harmony with ourselves, nature and the creatures that inhabit this planet. "YE REALLY SHALL HARM NONE."

There is a big, wide world out there and a lot of things and people to take your world apart in a negative way, do not let us do that to each other as well. We are a lot that is supposed to be a bit more enlightened, we should be there for each other instead. Supporting each other in our many endeavors.

Blessed Be To you all.
