Real-time stream processing with Kafka and Python + more remote working wisdom
Details
This month I'm making the most of being online by bringing you Georgi and Stefan, a couple of great developers from Bulgaria, to talk about how they built a fraud detection system for an online bank using Apache Kafka. Their company South Gate Tech are also a fully remote company so they will share some insight on how they collaborate remotely on projects like this.
Georgi is currently a Tech Lead at South Gate Tech, working on a real-time processing pipeline for fraud detection for one of South Gate’s clients - Tide, a leading UK online bank. He graduated with Computer Science (BSc) from University of Southampton, UK and Computer Science & AI (MEng) from KU Leuven, Belgium. He has worked for startups, scaleups & enterprises in the UK, Belgium and Bulgaria, both as a DevOps and a Software Engineer.
As part of his current role, he is actively using Python, Kafka, AWS and is responsible for the software design, architecture, development and testing of the pipeline.
Stefan is a technology leader and CTO of South Gate Tech (southgate.tech) helping company’s engineering teams deliver solutions to complex problems in big data, cloud and full stack engineering. Entrepreneur, agile practitioner and engineer by heart he has a lot to say about distributed remote ways of working while scaling up highly performing product and engineering teams.
Stefan’s most recent experience prior to that was building the Financial Times engineering department in Sofia, Bulgaira.
I'll post the Zoom link here, closer to the time, looking forward to cathing up.
