What we're about

All One Body, All One Chi, All One Mind, All One Spirit
-Gui Feng Li

Through proper practice the everyday slowly becomes Miraculous, and then slowly the miraculous becomes everyday. - Lao Yu Gong

Sacramento Cheng Man Ching Tai Chi Group (AKA. Golden Jade Tai Chi Chuan)

"Learning, practicing and studying Tai Chi Chuan is not a desire for a belt, or a race towards a finishing line. It is a long slow contemplative journey toward a sacred mountain peak that one has glimpsed from afar.

Along the way if one practices diligently and steadfastly one is slowly transformed physically, mentally and spiritually. Graced with worthy generous teachers and fellow companions the path is illuminated, difficulties surmounted and insight, skill and depth is slowly attained.

Joy and contentment is slowly gathered along with skill and sharing all that you know with others becomes the most precious of gifts. The Hall of Happiness then rings with genuine laughter and the Golden Spirit of Cheng Tzu along with his radiant smile warms each heart and spirit."

-Craig T, Golden Jade Tai Chi Chuan

This group is for those who presently practice or want to learn Cheng Man Ch'ing's Tai Chi Form. We focus on the heath benefits, martial and spiritual aspects of Tai Chi Chuan. We strive to be a full Tai Chi curriculum school within the CMC Yang tradition, teaching the 37 movement short form, fixed and stepping push hands, two person practice sets, Da Lu and San Shou and sword form (following Sifu Bob Amacker's teachings-a direct student of Cheng Man Ching, Ben Lo and Chu Fang Chu). elements of Yi Chuan are in the mix as well.

Application practice 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

"What is the goal of push hands (or Tai Chi Chuan application)?Constant youthfulness and a long life." -A little Beneath the Surface of the Tai Ji Quan Classics by Master Ping Siang Tao

Open to Beginner and Intermediate students.

In this hour we will concentrate more on Tai Chi Chuan applications, advanced elements from the Form, two person practice sets, and push hands practice.

"EXPLAINING TAIJI PRINCIPLES (TAIJI FA SHUO) - Brennan Translation – 太極法說 EXPLAINING TAIJI PRINCIPLES 楊班侯 attributed to Yang Banhou [circa 1875] [translation by Paul Brennan, Sep, 2013]

[PRACTICING] WITHOUT MISTAKES

Crashing in, collapsing, coming away, and resistance will lose in [practice], and so they are called mistakes. If you neglect sticking, adhering, connecting, and following, you will not be able to achieve moving with awareness. And if you are not aware of yourself, how will you be able to know your opponent? Therefore when [practicing], do not use crashing in, collapsing, coming away, or resistance, thereby opposing the opponent, instead use sticking, adhering, connecting, and following, thereby awaiting the opponent. If you can do it in this way, then not only will you be without mistakes, but moving with awareness will be automatically accomplished, and you can then progress to the skill of identifying energies."
