"Through proper practice the everyday slowly becomes Miraculous, and then slowly the miraculous becomes everyday." - Xian Tzu

Sacramento Cheng Man Ching Tai Chi Group

This group is for those who practice or want to learn Cheng Man Ch'ing's Tai Chi short form. We focus on the heath benefits, martial and spiritual aspects of Tai Chi Chuan. We strive to be a full Tai Chi curriculum school within the CMC tradition, teaching the 37 movement short form, fixed and stepping push hands, two man practice sets, Da Lu and San Shou.

Emphasis will be on developing the "bubbling well" root, internal strength, Chan Su Jing (winding energy) and one's center. Martial aspects and training practices and internal Tai Chi Chi Kung will also be discussed and practiced depending on student interest.

"Through the Martial the Spiritual is attained, through the Spiritual the Martial is attained"

Please wear comfortable clothes and flat bottomed shoes (Please no sandals, boots, jeans or skin tight/confining clothing).

We are especially working on and developing Bob Amacker's teachings ie. the wooden ball, metal ball and air ball while doing push hands (sensitivity hands), Da Lu and San Shou. (see Bob's book The Theoretical Basis of T'ai Chi Ch'uan https://www.amazon.com/Theoretical-Basis-Ta... (https://www.amazon.com/Theoretical-Basis-Tai-Chi-Chuan-ebook/dp/B00JE4TV8U/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=bob+amacker+tai+chi&qid=1553881059&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0))

If you are looking for a group whose core is dedicated to discovering and developing the talents and techniques of Prof Cheng Man Ching and the "old master's" martial skill of Tai Chi, in a noncompetitive, mutual reinforcing, respectful environment we are it.

Students with martial arts backgrounds and interests especially welcome, but not required.

Please join our Facebook page for great videos and articles etc that will be posted from time to time. https://www.facebook.com/chengmanchingtaich... (https://www.facebook.com/chengmanchingtaichi/)

Please Note: If you join this meetup please attend. You cannot learn or discover anything by lurking on a meetup sight or following videos on You Tube, you can only learn through participation and practice.

Tai Chi Form Practice

Cordova Community Center

$6.00

Practice the Cheng Man Ch'ing 37 movement Tai Chi form at Hagan Community Park. Intermediate and Continuing form practice and correction 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM This form is also instrumentally suited to developing rootedness, learning one's and others centers and the manifestation of interior strength (power) and winding energy and the development of Mu Shin (wu-xin) Mind No-Mind. "Many who have done sitting meditation (zazen) in an effort to achieve tranquillity have been strongly impressed by the usefulness of tai chi for this purpose. For some, the flowing, softly unfolding form of tai chi is more suitable for meditation than sitting motionless in one place. Still others consider a moving meditation highly satisfying philosophically because they believe everything in the universe is constantly in motion and they can harmonize best with the universe through a meditation that also moves." - Professor Cheng's student Herman Kauz. From The Tai Chi Handbook : ) Spiritually, "Practicing Tai Chi one is able to use prenatal ch'i to fix the spirit (shen) inside this central point so as to produce the golden pill. It is better than sitting meditation." Chen Wei-Ming. All aspects, especially push-hands, are taught in a non-competitive, non -combative atmosphere free of the force, push, yank and tug practices of other Tai Chi meetups. As the Tai Chi classics state, "You have to lose a thousand bouts before you can win a thousand bouts." Once the interior is formed the skill level naturally arises. (Note: all push hands are cancelled due to Covid 19). The spiritual and interior Taoist alchemical aspects will also be discussed and explored as well.
