A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I've been paddling for two years, primarily at Occoquan Reservoir, Mason Neck, the tidal Potomac, and Chestertown, MD. I consider myself an experienced and capable recreational paddler who enjoys a relaxed pace for up to 10 miles, and I often take a picnic along.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I own a Delta 15.5, Delta 12-10, and a Dagger Axiom 12

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

For me, it's all about having fun experiencing nature from the water and socializing outdoors. Although I appreciate whatever exercise kayaking provides, I believe biking is better for that. I like kayaking and biking because they give me a reason to go pretty places and have something to do when I get there.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

My main interest is enjoying friendly group paddles at interesting and different locations. However, I'm always looking to learn from more experienced paddlers.

I'm enjoy kayaking as a means to get outdoors and have fun. Good people makes for great paddling...

What Jake is saying about this Meetup Group

This group is off to a great start because Chuck has an excellent vision for organizing fun recreational paddles and social time afterwards. That's how to build a successful meetup and a real community of friendly paddlers.
