A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

Lakes, mangrove trails and rivers. Alaska and Key West. Potomac, Antietam, and Monocacy. Just flatwater, other than the confluence on Antietam.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

A Pelican one-seater, sit-in. Not rated for more than Class II, which is fine because I don't want to paddle anything too hairy. And now a beautiful Inuit LiquidLogic that I bought from Chuck.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

I love being on the water, and kayaking is so much better than being on a power boat. When I first kayaked on vacation, I came home and immediately bought a kayak.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

I have local friends who like to paddle around Harpers Ferry, but want to explore new water and meet more paddlers.

I live near Shepherdstown. I love flatwater kayaking, hiking, and am trying to rediscover my biking skills. Being indoors sucks!

What Kathy L. is saying about this Meetup Group

I'm really glad I joined this group and am looking foward to more paddles. I'm wondering what my character will be, once I've earned it. Hmm.
