What we're about
“That's what Chess is all about. One day you give your
opponent a lesson, the next day he gives you one.”
(Bobby Fischer)
Chess Republic is the way to meet other players for great games, friendly banter and a cup of your favorite brew! Bring a board (if you have one), your warm personality and a friend. And remember, well-behaved chess players of all ages are welcomed :)
If you're new to the game...not to worry we have some great people that love to teach it--yep, its free! For you skilled players, you will find the action you seek because we have several players that are USCF ranked.
Power to the Pawns,
Mark Augustini
Founder and Citizen of the Chess Republic since August, 2015
Upcoming events (4+)
You can expect a casual laid back environment while enjoying a game or multiple games of chess with some friendly banter. Depending on who you play with they may prefer a more quiet game, playing with a clock, or a more socializing experience (the latter is my personal preference).
Feel free to come and go as you like. No need to show up right at the starting time. If you have a chess board and pieces, feel free to bring them. There will usually be a few extra boards and pieces, if not, you can just pull up a chair and grab the next game. You can purchase refreshments in Wholefoods (they have an amazing assortment of fresh baked goods, snacks, and beverages).
We'll likely be in their outdoor seating area with a chess board already set up. FYI, this is a recurring meetup but I won't be able to make it every weekend, but we usually have some regulars that will be there to play.

Just like the Saturday meetup, but a different day/time/location.
Refreshments can be purchased, see their website for their menu: https://grassrootskavahouse.com/grassroots-kava-house-menu/
