Chester County Arts and Culture

This was a fun event in the spring! They are doing it again for fall; should be beautiful now that the leaves are changing! The event is held behind the building by the woods. I will see if there is a tent or something where we can meet and will post here.

ART IN THE WOODS IS COMING!
Join us Saturday, October 10 from 11 AM–4 PM at Chester County Art Association for a day of art, nature, and community.
See our artists and explore an incredible collection of artwork displayed throughout the woods. All art at Art in the Woods will be for sale, so you may just find the perfect piece to take home!

Art surrounded by nature
And so much more!
Don’t forget to bring a can of soup! We’re collecting soup donations for the West Chester Food Cupboard to help support our local community.

The full breadth of WCU’s outstanding choral program will be on display in a concert titled “Jubilate!” The program will feature performances from five of WCU’s choirs — Orpheus Singers, Allegro Voices, Oriana Chorale, Mastersingers, and Concert Choir — and close with a surround-sound rendition of WCU’s Alma Mater, arranged by Dr. Ryan Kelly, sung by more than 200 students.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Tickets are NOT required for this event. Free parking available in student lots on the weekends. I recommend parking behind the EO Bull Center for the Arts and walking the two blocks to the Emile Asplundh Concert Hall.

For those of you are not already familiar with the village of Arden in Wilmington, DE I want to introduce it to you.

Barely 30 minutes from West Chester, Arden is a quirky, wooded, storybook village with charming artisan cottages, trails, gardens, art, theater (Arden Singers & a Shakespeare group), and a strong sense of community. It feels a little Bohemian - certainly a little eccentric - and completely unlike anywhere else nearby. While it's not my beloved St. Peter's Village, it is very special.

There are many events throughout the year. In November The Sleeping Beauty of Savoy will be presented by the Arden Singers. I will post a link for tickets if anyone is interested in attending. This is an "On Your Own" event unless someone wants to host. I will also post the leader of the Arden Singers' email if anyone wants to volunteer and see the performance for free.

If not, try to visit another time. There is a yearly festival at the end of the summer and you might even notice some familiar faces bartending!

Celebrate the holidays and meet other Chester County Arts and Culture members!

Event is at my office on Gay St in West Chester as the parade passes by.

Potluck -- please contribute a nice entree, appetizer, desert and/or beverage of choice. I’ll provide champagne (or champagne punch) a hot Italian dish and other random treats. Please post in comments what you plan to bring. Several of us will be there as early as 2pm setting up if you want to drive up and drop off food while Gay Street is still open.

Stroll through the nearby “Holiday Village" and other activities. The historic courthouse on High & Market will have the tree lighting at 6:30 and the parade starts at 7pm.

Parking is always a challenge so plan ahead. Come early or park in larger lots like at Giant then walk or Uber. Please don't contact me at the last minute for parking advice. Plan ahead.

As it gets closer, I will post separate events asking for a few helpers to decorate earlier that day and clean up over the weekend.
