IT Security! Threats are big. Even your grandmother heard about heartbleed. You must be an expert, right? Hmmm. The problem is that threats get all the attention. Even the OWASP top 10 checklist is all about threats. So much so, we hardly ask what is being threatened. What are we securing from what, and what counts as ’secure’ anyway?

This talk will introduce the ISO27000 series definitions as a way to think about “What is security anyway?” and discuss how that works out in logical design (for instance access control) and in physical design (for instance attack surface & uptime). All that in barely 35 minutes 😲 !
