Meetups

Although the meetups are still adapting to the needs of the group, we're generally focused on the following types of activities:

• Playtests // Majority of meetups are focused on members bringing their prototypes and playtesting them to collect feedback. Prototypes at all levels of design and development are welcome.

• Evaluations // In addition to playtests, members might seek feedback about other aspects of the development of their game, including graphic and visual design, component design, etc.

• Discussions // Group discussions that dig into a particular topics of game development, including discussions around game mechanics, design process, kickstarter, marketing, manufacturing, etc.

If you have anything else you'd like to bring up during one of our meetups, make sure to comment below or in a specific meetup event page.

Frequency

Meetings occur monthly, at Dice Dojo (Sunday) and Good Games (Thursday). Check our schedule to see where and at what times we'll be meeting.

Safe Space Policy

This meetup is an inviting, inclusive, and safe space to create & present ideas. We do not welcome those who act aggressive, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise biased. If a discussion or a playtest is going to have overtly violent or have mature themes, we will ask that those details be disclosed before-hand so those who may be uncomfortable can opt out.

Game Design Meetup & Playtesting at Dice Dojo

Chicagoland Games: The Dice Dojo

We're focused on building a community of active designers looking to improve their games and their craft. Designers and developers of all levels are welcome. Here's what's on the docket: MEMBER INTROS // Taking a little time to talk about who are we & what we're working on. PLAYTESTING // Feel free to bring along any prototypes you're working on! We're up for checking out designs at any stage. Please comment on this event if you're planning on bringing a prototype and an estimate on player count and length. We'll split into multiple groups and cap playtests to only a couple rounds as needed. OTHER // Please comment below if there's anything else you'd like to discuss or bring up during this meetup. For instance, trying to organize a prototype swap to do some blind playtesting or setting up a discussion around a specific part of the game development process (graphic design, kickstarter, manufacturing, etc.) The Dice Dojo has generously offered to host us. If you haven't been, well, you may want to come early and check it out because it's a pretty awesome place! If you can't find us right away, you may want to check in the basement - there's a bunch of gaming space down there, and that's where we usually end up. Looking forward to seeing you there!
