Join the Windy City Grotto for an unforgettable underground adventure. We will be rustic camping Friday and Saturday nights and exploring the subterranean passages of Sullivan and Lowry caves on Saturday and Sunday respectively. We will be underground Saturday for about 5 hours, crawling, climbing, and exploring. Sunday's trip is a little further south in Indiana but will be a shorter trip, maybe 3 hours. We will be camping on the Sullivan cave property (address provided when you RSVP). The property has a fire pit ring, picnic table, and port-o-potty, but no wifi, electricity, or running water. There are restaurants in nearby Bloomington & Bedford. All first time cavers are required to go through a "Caving 101" briefing before their first trip. This briefing covers what gear you will need, what to expect, as well as safety precautions. These Caving 101 briefings will be posted on Meet-up, and take place over Zoom. The grotto does have some loaner gear for first timers to borrow. There is no cost to go caving with us, however we will request a donation to cover the cost of firewood.
