Living in Chicago as a conservative has got me empathizing with Johnathon Living Seagull. Just wanted to meet up with some like minded people who wouldn't accuse me of hating old people because I want to control my own retirement, or hating kids because I support choice in education. Fair warning, I'm more of a conservative libertarian/ classical liberal, but in this city I'm not alienating anyone who doesn't want to light tax money on fire. If you, like me, are feeling like the last sane person in a psych ward, let me know and we can grab a beer or something.
To foster a community of like-minded individuals centered around the values of free speech, market economics, and individual liberty.
4 Types of Meetups this group hosts:
1) Sundays: In depth, structured discussions of a single topic. These will devolve into light-hearted reviews of current events and personal topics
2) Happy Hours: Communal events with fun people after work.
3) Monthly Book Clubs: Reading a book during the month and discussing it at the end of the month. Books are usually approximately 250 pages, and sometime we will pick two short books for discussion.
4) Variable groups outings:
Past events have included (and we will do again): Volunteering, Archery Ranges, Axe Throwing, Movie Premiers, Bowling, Shooting Ranges, Rock Climbing, Karaoke.
