Freediving (skin diving, advanced snorkeling) is exploring the underwater world and yourself by diving with a single breath of air without any scuba diving equipment. The main way to improve the breath hold time is training the body's ability to deeply relax in different, quite often stressful circumstances. That improves not only the body's underwater swim ability but also restores and strengthens stress management skills leading to overall improvements in one's health and well-being.
The purpose of this meetup is creating a community of freedivers in Chicago metropolitan area to practice the sport in a safe and joyful environment. Both indoor pool and open water training will be facilitated. Both certified freedivers and novices are welcome. If you are not certified, learning the basic safety skills will be required.
