Seth Vargo
Bio:
Seth Vargo is the Director of Technical Advocacy at HashiCorp. Previously, Seth worked at Chef (Opscode), CustomInk, and a few Pittsburgh-based startups. He is the author of Learning Chef and is passionate about reducing inequality in technology. When he is not writing, working on open source, teaching, or speaking at conferences, Seth enjoys spending time with his friends and advising non-profits. He loves all things bacon.
Abstract:
Traditional monolithic applications were self-contained, SSL termination happened at the F5, and all process communication was internal to the application. As more organizations migrate to microservice architectures, security becomes a more important piece of the conversation. Even more importantly, as organizations move to cloud and hybrid technologies, the underlying infrastructure is untrusted. Inter-application communication is untrusted. Everything is untrusted. Vault is a popular open source tool for managing this complexity. This demo-drive talk will showcase Vault's basic functionality as well as some of the new features in Vault 0.7.
