Chicago - Rifftrax Live: Starship Troopers!

DO IT, RICO!  The Rifftrax Kickstarter has ended, and while Twilight wasn't on the table for live broadcast riffing, another movie that sorely deserves it has been offered for the chopping block: Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers.  Featuring pretty 20-somethings and a pre-career-revival Neil Patrick Harris, and a 180-degree philosophical shift from its source material, Starship Troopers has been a bit controversial even among bad movie buffs.  Director Verhoeven insists it's an anti-war military satire, and some critics agree, but at the very least it rides the line of Poe's law.

In any case, it remains eminently mockable, so let's join Mike, Kevin and Bill at our local theaters (if you can't reach the ICON or the AMC South Barrington, you can find the location nearest you, and buy tickets, here) for Rifftrax Live, 2013!

Gawld that was awesome. Great job by the Rifftrax guys (on a move that's funny to start with), and enough nitrates at the bar upstairs for my next two heart attacks. And what other group could have such an amazing conversation ranging from duelling Michael Caines:

    to Doctor Who burlesque:

    to the worst Bond Girls:,,20431259_1557891_10,00.html

    to MC Hawking:

plus an inspired riff session on the use of Scottish ATMS!

And if you decide to see the Doctor Who burlesque show, use discount code busty13 for ten bucks off. No reason to pay full price.

If you don't find us before the show, we'll congregate outside the theater door afterwards (about 9p), then head up to the bar area. Additionally, if you have not already bought your ticket, you might want to do so before tomorrow night. I've heard it's close to sold out.

I know, right? Such an amazing food actually exists!? Looks like all that NASA research is finally paying off.

(Homer) "You mean you're going to stop eating pork? What about bacon, or ham?"
(Lisa) "Dad, those all come from the same animal."
      (Homer) "<snort>Sure....some wonderful magical animal..."

Just a friendly reminder. All of us will meet outside in the lobby until the event starts. I will probably get there around 6:30. Also, I'm in seat G4 if you want to join me. If you need to contact me for any reason, give me a call at[masked]-8808. Hope to see everyone there!!

Alas, this is the same night as the annual Bristol Gang show, so I won't be attending either location.

I'm in seat F5. As is our tradition, we'll also meet for drinks and bacon popcorn in the lounge upstairs after the show.
