Chicago Male Photography

Welcome. We are a humble group of male models and male photographers interested in the full range of photography of male models from portraits, fashion, and fitness to fine art.

We welcome men with all different levels of experience who possess creativity and curiosity to join us. We enjoy each other's company in a creative atmosphere with mutual respect for various aesthetics, body types, and personal comfort levels. We have developed a kindly community that promotes artistic expression no matter our level of professional skill or artistic achievement.

Typical Meetups
We have meetups of four types: Model Photoshoot, Community Model Photoshoot, Photographer Forum, Social, and a Non-physical Meetup.

Model Photoshoot
During a Model Photoshoot, typically one (or possibly more) model is photographed by up to 4 photographers at the same time. The models for these meetups are typically athletic, fit, or lean guys (of any adult age and of all races). Generally, these photoshoots are straightforward efforts to get the best images of the model...fitness, body shots, underwear modeling, fine art photography.

Community Model Photoshoot
Much more informal than Model Photoshoots, Community Model Photoshoots are for men of all kinds who want to be photographed, and for photographers of all kinds who want to try new things. These events are larger, with up to 3 men posing and/or shooting. And these events feature shoots with themes ranging from whimsical to serious. Regular guys who just want to pose are welcome in these meetups.

Photographer Forum
These meetups are for photographers to get together and share.

Social
These informal meetups are for models and photographers to get together socially for refreshments and conversation...possibly with a photography theme, but not required.
Most meetups are Model Photoshoots.

MEETUP PRICES
The cost will range from $20 to $40 per attendee for outsourced models and $10 for other meetups to cover studio rentals in the future and update the studio with photography equipment, props, etc. The price will be in the description of that particular event.

Some Fine Print
We welcome models and photographers who identify as male; individuals identifying as female are never used as models and are not members of this Meetup group. While most members of the group may identify as gay or bisexual, this group welcomes all sexual orientations and expressions.

Member photographers mostly use DSLR or advanced mirror-less cameras. While not prohibited, phone cameras and simple point and shoot cameras are not recommended.

This is a group for models and photographers living in the greater Chicagoland area (Southern Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, Northern Indiana, and Southern Michigan) only. Members from other areas will only be considered if they travel to Chicago frequently. Members must have their (first) name and face picture as part of their meetup.com profile to apply to the group.

Though by no means part of every photoshoot, full nudity or sexual situations may be included in a Model Photoshoot or Community Model Photoshoot based on the interests and comfort levels of the model(s) and photographer(s) present at the photoshoot.

Studio Info
Most photoshoots are held in the home studio of the organizer in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. The studio has a number of backdrops and much studio lighting equipment. There is easy street parking and easy access to “L” and bus transit.
