PSA 7/26/2020: So, it's looking like these zoom meetups will be here to stay for awhile. The regular spot, Kristoffer's Cakes (on 35th), is still open and if you're able to, please go and support them! I'll update this section whenever it's safe to meet in person again. Until then, stay safe! :) **** Welcome to the South side Spanish group! Typically, we'll be chatting in Spanish and helping each other improve. I usually keep it as informal as possible, although I'll be trying some things in the 2nd hour over the next few weeks to keep things fresh. Even if you're not in the south side (or in Chicago), feel free to come on by! All levels are welcome. However, remember that this is a Spanish-speaking group. English is okay sometimes if you need clarification, but PLEASE stick to Spanish as much as possible! Kristoffer's Cakes, the meet up spot, has really awesome tres leches cakes and tamales if that interests you. :) We meet every other week unless I say otherwise. There is plenty of parking nearby if you drive or if you're talking public transit, the shop is about a 13-minute walk from the 35/Archer Orange Line station. Hope to see some of you there!
¡Bienvenido! Sunday Spanish is back and in a new location and neighborhood! This is a group for Spanish speakers to practice Spanish and meet people that share the love of the language. I'll try to have sign up indicating our group as we will not have a reserved space. I'll get there early to push a few tables together. A couple of important facts: 1) Native speakers are quite welcome to attend--even encouraged. 2) The owners of Klein's have emphasized that purchasing beverages/snacks is an important and fair exchange for the generous usage of space so please do so if you're able to. 3)Attendance is highly variable--5-10 folks on average but the new location might change this. I have capped us at 10 due to limited space. The cap should be used as a warning that there may not be enough space to accommodate more than 10 folks though not necessarily meant to be a deterrent to attending. 4) There may be other days/times added to Meetup at this cafe, stay posted for info! 5) Feel free to message me with any questions! I look forward to seeing you on Sundays!
