The Chicago Spanish Language Meetup

(Note:many people attend without RSVPing, we are usually 15-20 people every Saturday.)

Panera Bread, 501 S. State St (at E. Congress Pkwy) in Chicago. The closest "L" stations are Harrison on the red line, Jackson on the blue line, and Library on the pink, brown and purple lines; it is across the street from Harold Washington Library. There are affordable parking lots and also metered street parking in the area. We usually seat at a big table by the back area of the place, close to the back door.

Whereas there is no fee for participating, a $5 minimum purchase at the venue is recommended (let's keep the venue happy!)

This is the usual description of the event:

Nos reunimos para aprender, practicar y conversar en español. Mucha gente asiste a las reuniones para prepararse para viajar a España y a países latinoamericanos! Por favor haz RSVP = yes para asegurar que habrá suficientes personas para mantener nuestra reserva.

The conversation was very good. About 80 to 90 percent of the time I spoke all in Spanish with a person by the name of Tom. Sometimes I switched to English when I didn't understand something in the conversation, but Tom continue to speak Spanish to me. I appreciated it when he helped guide me in just speaking Spanish and not English.

Give your child the opportunity to learn Spanish through fun activities at an age where leaning languages still goes without effort.
Whether you are a native Spanish speaker or you wish to learn, you and your toddler will fit right into Instituto Cervantes' weekly celebration of music, stories, and the Spanish language. Traditional songs and rhymes are excellent building blocks for vocabulary and grammar, and singing together feels great in any language!
