See Art in a New Light – Cornelia Arts Building May 17 Open House Edgar Degas wrote “Art is not what you see, it is what you make others see.” On Friday May 17, 2019, from 6 to 10 pm, artists of The Cornelia Art Building, located at 1800 West Cornelia, invites the public to see their art and experience the space they make it in. Visit one of the largest all-artist buildings on Chicago’s Northside, and experience the wonder of two-full floors of working art studios. With one-of-a-kind hand-made artwork and gifts by both the building artists and special guest lobby artists Tom Gallagher and C Grey Litaker, the event offers something for the whole family to enjoy. For thirty-three years this artist incubator space has provided Chicago artists with professional studio spaces to pursue their craft. Over fifty local artists and artisans work here, including sculptors, painters, photographers, ceramic artists, print-makers, jewelry designers, textile artisans, and much more. Meet the building’s talented artists and artisans in person, explore their art practices up close, and enjoy the opportunity to purchase artwork and hand-made crafts directly from the people who made them. Established in 1986 in a former ice-house, the Cornelia Arts Building is located at 1800 West Cornelia, at the border of three distinct Chicago Neighborhoods; Lakeview, Roscoe Village, and North Center. Located close to public transportation and only two blocks south of the Addison Brown Line CTA stop, the building also has free parking available in parking lot out front, and on neighborhood streets nearby. Event is free and open to the public. Cornelia Arts Building March Open Studios Come to Beth’s studio 101 by the front door first for a glass of wine and a name tag. When you see another woman at the event walking around with another name tag, she’s with us! This sounds so fun!
