Gutenberg – WordPress changes the editor

Details
Gutenberg is the working name for the new page/post editor that is still in development. They plan on making this part of core in the next major update to 5 sometime this year, and for the regular site editor and developer, this changes everything. The content screen will now be done in blocks – a block for a header, a block for an image, blocks for columns, etc. To get us ready for this big shift we have a special dual presentation to help us get ready and answer questions.
Scott Winterroth will be presenting on what a normal site owner/editor will be looking at when they add something new and how to work with it. Scott will share some ideas and scenarios for what this means for the content strategist and blogger and how they can leverage the new editor for visual layouts.
Steve Stern will be presenting on what this means for those of us who develop themes. Steve will look at the more common development scenarios with Gutenberg for Custom Post Types and tools like Advanced Custom Fields. He will also cover strategies on how to update to 5 and not break an already existing theme.
As always, the doors at the Holiday Club open at 6. We use the 1st hour for networking, ordering and helping each other. The presentation will begin at 7 pm.
