Not all web designers make effective use of SEO tactics usually because they haven't learned it well enough. But in recent years, there has been a big increase in the effective use of SEO by web designers getting into it for the first time. This is due to the development of tools that can be used that make the work easier as well as the Internet marketing practitioners blogging about their SEO success stories.
Joe Vangsness will give a presentation on the basics of SEO for WordPress and demonstrate some of the tools and practices that are available today. The presentation will include:

Presenter:
Joe Vangsness designs and builds websites for small businesses, non profits and professionals. He is an experienced Drupal site builder but has done SEO work on some WordPress sites. He is now learning WordPress and plans to offer WordPress as an option in the future. He also offers Internet marketing strategy, SEO, web analytics and content strategy. He has previously taught IT courses at DePaul University, Purdue University-Calumet and Triton College as an adjunct instructor. Joe holds a B.S. in Management from the University of Illinois.

Note, on the South Side, we usually meet on the second Wednesday of the month...but not in August! The library has some summer programming that has bumped our meetings. Starting in the fall we are back to the second Wednesday of the month.
