Beginner's Backpacking Trip - Hennepin Canal

This will be a easy 1 nighter backpacking trip. It will be great trip for people checking out there gear or people backpacking for the first time.

We will hike about 7 1/2 miles each day. The trail will be flat. You will be hiking along Hennepin Canal.

We will meet at the finish at Lock 17. We will move as few car as possible to the start (Lock 22) . We will hike 7 1/2 miles to the campsite (Bridge 14) and make camp. In the evening, we will sit around the campfire or head to the Visitor Center (about 1 mile away) for a evening hike or just to look around (The Visitor Center will be closed).

In the morning, we we pack our bags and will head to our cars at Lock 17 (7.2 miles). We will stop for lunch in Princeton (optional) before heading home.

We are planning 2 backpacking trips in 2018. In June, we are going to Porcupine Mountains and in July we will be going to Shawnee. If are are thinking about joining us on either these trips, it is important you attend this beginner's trip.

Note: The only portable water on the route will be at the Visitor Center. We will pass it about 6 1/2 miles from the start on Saturday.
