Salesforce.com AppExchange & Mobile SDK for Developers

I’m happy to announce the last Chicago Force.com Developer User Group meeting of 2012. We’ll have two presentations by Reid Carlberg and Josh Birk, both from Salesforce.com. This event will be held at the Model Metrics office and Groupon will provide refreshments. You will need to register ahead of time, and please make sure the name you register under is the name that appears on your ID. Security at 600 W. Chicago will NOT grant you admission if this is not the case.

AppExchange for Developers -
The Salesforce AppExchange is the destination for platform apps. Reid will present on what developers need to know about the AppExchange, including how to create a managed package, how to extend an app, and what the security requirements are for publishing an app. This presentation will help developers understand how to work with apps and help entrepreneurs understand how to publish on the AppExchange.

Salesforce.com Mobile SDK -
The Mobile SDK is an open-source suite of familiar technologies—like a REST API and OAuth 2.0—that you can use to build great mobile apps. The Salesforce Mobile SDK supports three development approaches for building mobile apps: native, HTML5, and hybrid. Josh will speak about the different development approaches when using the Salesforce.com Mobile SDK to create apps that integrate with Salesforce. Other topics that may be covered will be creating apps that access device features, such as the camera or contacts, using secure offline storage that will allow you to build applications that will continue to function with limited or no network connectivity and utilizing the Mobile SDK’s OAuth support to free you from having to rebuild login pages and general authentication in your mobile applications.
