Title: Fast Data: Selecting The Right Streaming Technologies For Data Sets That Never End

Speaker: Dean Wampler, Ph.D

Big Data’s traditional batch-mode orientation is giving way to Fast Data architectures, in part because there is a competitive advantage to extracting value from data as quickly as possible. However, the Fast Data landscape is confusing and changing rapidly. Dean will discuss the criteria you should consider to select the best tools and techniques for the job. He'll discuss a few of the more common tools and how they fit these criteria, including Kafka, Kafka Streams, Spark Streaming, Flink, and Akka Streams. He'll also discuss how established and new platforms, like Hadoop, Mesos, and Cloud services support these systems.
