What we're about

This group was created with the purpose of helping people meet others with an interest in Astronomy in the Chicagoland area. After not finding a similar group nearby I thought I'd make a new one and see if there is any interest. I'm hoping the group will help others connect to people who share an interest in astronomy, whether they are experienced or new to the hobby. Volunteers wanted! If you would like to set up meetups please contact an organizer. The group is intended to be an open, collaborative effort, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to post them! Thanks!

Chicago Astronomer at the 606 Trail - PAUSED

606 Trail at Exelon Observatory

Hi Chicago Astronomer Friends and fans.... ALL Chicago Astronomer Public Observation sessions throughout the region are PAUSED...due to CV-19 restrictions. Other than my After School Matters Astronomy students, I will NOT be setting up telescopes and sharing the cosmos with sky lovers for the foreseeable future - despite what Meet-up is posting. We hope to resume our gatherings soon, but in the meantime...I am considering conducting Virtual On-line classes on Urban Astronomy due to demand and desire in exploring the skies here in Chicago and surrounding areas. It will probably be a three part series with a Field lesson and reasonable cost. If this is some thing you would like to participate in, please contact me at: [masked] And do also send me an email if you would like to be included in our Chicago Astronomer email notification list of events and notices. We hope to see all of you soon. Joe Guzman Astronomy Educator

We will target a sky full of planets, including the receding planet Mars via telescopes and Astronomers. The weather looks good too! https://www.the606.org/events/for-the-love-of-stars-27/ Be there.....you know you want to. Astro Joe
