What we're about

Children of the Earth seeks to be a meeting place for people who seek to practice sustainable, honorable, active, environmentally focused spiritual lives. We share an earth-based worldview, seeing everything in that exists in nature, trees, insects, animals, etc; are not viewed as separate from the human world, but as a part of the web of life that we all participate in, as many of the indigenous people have done since the beginning. Children of the Earth seeks to remember what much of the world has forgotten. In the words of Chief Seattle, "Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect." We honor and hold sacred our Mother Earth and all She provides for us. Children of the Earth is one vessel which springs from the of wisdom roots of Native American, Druid/Celtic, and other Indigenous earth based spiritual traditions.

We will engage in Medicine drumming; shamanic journeying, healing, sweat lodges, reading/discussion groups and spiritually focused hiking/camping retreats as weather and time permits. Inspiration for our practice can be found in the work of Michael Harner, Hank Wesselman, Bill Plotkin, David Abram, Emma Restall Orr, and others. If you hear the Great Mother whispering to you, I hope you will join us.

We do not charge for events, but a $5-$10 donation per event is greatly appreciated for those who can afford it in order to defray costs related to materials and maintenance of the Meetup site.

A note from your new Meetup Organizer: Welcome! Our meeting place has changed to Downingtown for monthly group gatherings as part of Sacred Source Spiritual Center. I welcome any suggestions for topics and/or spiritual practices you feel guided to learn more about in a safe, open community. Aho. Ellen
