What we’re about
The Chiltern Young Walkers are a friendly and sociable walking group aimed at people in their 20s, 30s, a little beyond and run by volunteers. We love to discover new places and share the stunning views we know with others through walks every weekend. From leisurely 5 miles strolls to strenuous 15+ mile hikes in the Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire and West Hertfordshire, often within 30 minutes from Aylesbury, Hemel Hempstead or High Wycombe. Join us to exercise in the countryside, expand your social scene, explore the fantastic scenery on your doorstep or further afield and have fun, we look forward to seeing you soon!

We are part of and funded by the Ramblers, Britain's biggest and most vibrant walking community and a charity working to open the way for everyone to enjoy the simple pleasures of walking. We step up to protect the places we all love to wander. You are free to enjoy three different events before you decide to join us as a full member.
Make new friends
We are over 150 people from their 20s, 30s and a little beyond who enjoy walking and socialising. Most of our walks end at the pub, a great way to get to know fellow members. You will see familiar faces and often meet new people each time you come. Along with our walks, we have an active socials programme with regular pub nights and other social events.
Weekends Away
We explore the UK with occasional weekends away including seaside trips, long-distance trails and mountain hikes. We organise some weekend trips within easy reach of the Chilterns, without the need to take time off work, recent examples include the Cotswolds and the South Downs. Some trips to places such as the Peak District, the Lake District, Wales, or the Scottish Highlands offer more challenging mountainous walking in spectacular scenery.

Mini-Weekend Away - Baby Seals in Norfolk (Ramblers Members Only)
Great Yarmouth, Pleasure Beach, GBJoin us for what could be our cutest trip yet – to see baby seals on the Norfolk coast! Come for wild coastal views, thousands of grey seals at Horsey Gap, and an easy Broads walk from England’s most remote station back to the seaside. Enjoy a relaxed late autumn mini weekend away. We’ll stay in the seaside town of Great Yarmouth and aim to eat together in the evenings Sorry not suitable for dogs due to seal protection zones (some exceptions for assistance dogs). See details and Google Form link below to sign up.
Walk leader: Paul - 07974696802
Weekend Details

A meal later in the evening to suit those arriving after work, with huge portions and a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options. If you’re arriving late on Friday, no pressure, join for a quick bite and a drink (their adult milkshakes are great!) or catch up with us on the walk Saturday
Saturday 29th – 10:00am, Seal spotting Walk at Horsey Gap & Winterton (approx. 10 miles)
We walk along the coast from Winterton to Horsey Gap, where the main seal watching opportunities are. We’ll also explore some of the nearby countryside, including a possible pub stop and a ruined church. Bring a packed lunch. Mostly flat coastal/Broads paths, sand/dunes, with plenty of photo stops!
Saturday Evening
- Meal - V-Namese on St Peter's Road, Vietnamese Asian Fusion. They have suggested a set menu.
- Post meal Pub - We visit Blackfrias Tavern, CAMRA's best cider pub of 2025, which has a great range of Beers, Ciders, bar games and bar billiards.
Sunday 30th – 10.00 am Norfolk Broads Walk- Berney Arms to Great Yarmouth (~6 miles)
Meet Great Yarmouth railway station, I'll organise a group ticket nearer the time.
We’ll take the 10.17am train to Berney Arms, one of England’s most remote railway stations with no road access. We’ll follow the River Yare and the Weaver's Way and Wherryman's Way through the Norfolk Broads back to Great Yarmouth.
Due to a lack of luggage storage facilities in GY, if drivers are happy for members travelling by public transport to leave bag(s) in cars while we are on the walk, it would be appreciated.

Chess Valley Christmas Jumper Walk - With Festive Pub Stop!
Chorleywood Station, Station Approach, WD3 5ND, Chorleywood, GBStart time: 10:45 (Estimated finish time: 15:00)
Moderate 8 miles / 12.8 km
Led By: Beth
Phone: 07956242703
Celebrate the festive season with a morning walk from Chorleywood through the stunning Chorleywood Common and along the Chess Valley.
We encourage wearing a festive jumper, beard baubles, reindeer antlers, santa hats...anything festive, really! But its not mandatory if that's not your thing.
About two thirds of the way through we'll stop off at the Red Lion Chenies to sample their festive drinks menu - they're expecting us and looking forward to seeing our festive outfits.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times.
This walk is gentle but is likely to be muddy underfoot. Please bring some food and water, we'll have a quick sandwich stop just before we go to the pub.
Easiest parking is at Chorleywood station where we're meeting (£7 on Saturdays). However, there is a free car park opposite Chorleywood Memorial Hall which can be busy, but as long as you display a ticket between 11 and 3 is free, so please do feel free to check there first but if you do allow a bit of extra time.
