THE GROUP: Welcome! Chino Hills Book Club is for people interested in gathering and discussing a variety of books that we will choose together. This is an interactive group; approximately twice-a-year we will select books together aiming to read: 1 non-fiction/autobiography/memoir; 1 classic; 1 fantasy or sci-fi; 1 romance (broadly defined - not Harlequin); 2 historical fiction; 2 mystery or thriller; and 3 general fiction books. We do not select books in between the noted selection times. Attend the designated meetings if you want to suggest a book for the group.
MEETINGS: We’ll usually meet during the third weekend of each month to discuss the book that we have chosen; either on a FRIDAY FOR DINNER or on a SATURDAY FOR BREAKFAST. Generally, we will meet in a restaurant. Everyone is responsible for purchasing his or her own food and drinks.
FEES: There are no fees to belong to the group. However, each member is expected to keep their RSVPs up to date and be respectful to other group members. Each person is also responsible for purchasing their own books and meals. The group does cost me Meetup fees; accordingly, book lovers who join and do not come back to the group's page after several months may be removed from the group.
GUIDELINES: Participants will read or listen to the book before the meeting; understand that the book will be discussed for the majority of the meeting; be respectful of others and their opinions and views; give every participant a chance to speak without interrupting them.
RSVPs: YOU MUST RSVP if you wish to attend any event. No RSVP means no seat at the discussion table since reservations are made for our meetings. Also, as a courtesy to others in the group, please keep your RSVP's current for each meeting that you plan to attend. BE SURE TO REMOVE YOUR RSVP if your plans change. If you RSVP "Yes" and fail to show up (because you didn't change your RSVP to "No") 3 times; you will be removed from the group.
