This group gets together to hike on and do work projects on the North Country Trail within the Paul Bunyan State Forest and Chippewa National Forest. If you like to hike (or snowshoe, XC ski, or backpack) in the Chippewa National Forest, then you should join.
Join the ITM Chapter for a mushroom foray hike on August 29. Watching for a “North Country Trail Access” sign, meet at the roadside parking area about 2 ½ miles south of the junction of state highways 371 and 200 by 10 AM.
This event is a cooperative effort of the Itasca Moraine Chapter of the NCTA , and the Paul Bunyan Mushroom Club whose members will provide identification of mushrooms collected.
Join the ITM Chapter on September 26 for their Fall Equinox / NCNST Day Hike. They will hike from the Thorpe Tower Lookout to Waboose Lake public access. Meet at 12:45 at Waboose access for a shuttle to Thorpe Tower site. The group will hike south to the Waboose Lake loop trail where hikers can choose to hike either the 1 mile west route back to the Trailhead or east 3-mile route around the lake back to parking (total hike lengths 4.5 or 6.5 mi.)
