• What happens
Our Death Cafe is a group-directed conversation about death and dying over coffee and cake. Talking about death helps remind us of how precious life is.
We talk about all sorts of interesting death-related things; aging parents, DIY coffins, death doulas, creative things to do with ashes, books we've read, death in different cultures, assisted dying, near death experiences (NDEs), philosophy and the meaning of life, and our own personal experiences to name a few.
We don't promote any particular conclusion, belief system or course of action.
NB. Death Cafe is not grief support. It may not suit people who are recently bereaved or who are actively grieving.
• What to bring
An open mind, curiousity, and a willingness to join in the conversation. NB. We are able to use the upstairs room at Lotus Heart, as long as we buy something from the cafe downstairs :-)
• I love this quote by Arthur Schopenhauer:
Each day is a little life: every waking and rising a little birth, every fresh morning a little youth, every going to rest and sleep a little death.
