What we're about

Everything changes after the loss of a spouse. For many of us, this was the person we spent most of our time with. This is who we made our plans with and to be without them is lonelier than we ever could have imagined. Once widowed, we no longer fit in with the marrieds, and yet it's difficult to consider ourselves "single". Our social lives changed drastically and "going out” isn’t quite the same. You're not alone. There are many of us who can identify with losing a spouse sooner than expected.

Christian Surviving Spouses is designed to provide fellowship opportunities for local, Bible-believing, middle-aged to newly-retired (roughly 40-65) heterosexual Christians who have experienced marital commitment, and understand the shock of becoming suddenly single. Our purpose is to make new friends, uplift, and facilitate mutual support in a welcoming, God-honoring and fun atmosphere. We are not a formal support group, but we do support each other with meaningful camaraderie. Engaging conversation takes place over coffee, a meal, and occasional activities to participate in. We are an exclusive community that provides a safe, social atmosphere for like-minded men and women who are widowed and have decided to move forward on the journey from loss to new life, experiences, and relationships. Christian Surviving Spouses is not considered a dating group, but should you happen to find love within it ...then, yay for you!

Membership with Christian Surviving Spouses is granted through a qualification process. These requirements along with adherence to our participation guidelines are to ensure the safest and best experience possible for everyone's enjoyment and benefit.

1. Clear, recent photo of yourself (uploaded on the site).

2. Death certificate or obituary of your spouse. We ask that you have been in an actual marriage relationship (not cohabitating, divorced, or separated) when your spouse passed.

3. Signed agreement to participation guidelines (code of conduct).

4. Membership dues of $20/annually, and prorated if applicable ($2/month). Dues cover the cost of the annual Meetup subscription and and if applicable, payment for an end-of-the-year event. Christian Surviving Spouses is for paid participants only.

Though we are a community represented by different denominations, we agree on core Christian principles such as the inerrant word of God and that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father except by Him (John 14:6).

If you are interested in becoming a member of Christian Surviving Spouses, Click on "Request to Join" and you will receive an invitation in "Messages" to finalize the qualification process for membership. You will be asked for an email address to have the code of conduct sent to you for your review, signing, and submission.

Proof of widowhood, signed code of conduct, and dues submission all may be completed online (we accept PayPal) or if you prefer, a brief in-person meeting at a public place may be scheduled before membership is approved. Just let us know your preference.

We look forward to meeting you and enjoying your active participation!

1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."
