This group is for those interested in piloting unmanned aerial vehicles, or "UAVs" in FAA parlance, better known to the non-flying public as "drones." We're based in Cincinnati, Ohio USA.
The drone world is growing exponentially and with any new field, area or hobby - especially those with new and forming government regulations and local laws - there are loads and loads of questions. Which kind of drone to buy? To fly? To license? Do I need a license? Where and when can I fly? Should I race it? Take photos with it? Make videos with it? Insure it? Maintain it? Fly in the day, the night or over people - none of the above? Or, do all of this at the same time over a Reds' game? (Yeah...don't do that...)
Plus, it's time to start educating the public about how these things work and explain to local, county, state and federal regulators how to perform this hobby responsibly. The newly-forming Cincinnati Drone Pilots Association aims to help clear up those questions through collective wisdom, socializing, guest speakers, and hands-on practice and more. We hope we will be stronger in numbers and become a group the public can turn to for reliable informatoin.
Whether you've been flying for years and just entering the fascinating and fun world of unmanned flight, come join us. We can learn from each other and gain strength through each other's shared knowledge and experience.
